Max’s Journey: “A Perfect Fit” | Adoption Stories

Thanks to her generous legacy gift (through the Safe Haven program) the costs of Max’s transport, medical care, and sheltering were covered, ensuring he was given the best chance at a new beginning. Upon arriving at our Port Washington, NY campus, Max was warmly welcomed by our shelter staff and received a full medical evaluation from our veterinary team. It didn’t take long for Max’s friendly and affectionate nature to shine, earning him the love of everyone he met.

Max’s next chapter began a few weeks later when Philip Rutha walked into the adoption center with his daughter Kristin, intending to adopt a dog. However, Kristin had a different vision. She was immediately drawn to Max’s charming personality and convinced her dad to meet him. The connection was instant. As a senior in his 70s, Philip knew he wanted companionship and that of a quieter, adult pet made Max the perfect pet.
